Internet Casino Sucker Wagers — Part II

  • Progressive side wagers: Casino games like Caribbean Stud Poker often offer one of these. You typically lay a bet ($1 is the normal amt.) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although big jackpots like this are extremely appealing, they are also incredibly hard to win. You would need to get a Royal Flush in order to win this wager. Also, picture this- you wager 20 hands and make the side wager every time. That is $20 you could have used towards the actual game wager instead of a sucker bet. Imagine what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds utilizing that twenty dollars.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only 1. This shifts the complete house advantage from twopercent with one zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The single number wager has only a one in 38 chance of winning, which are very big odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much smaller casino edge.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you gamble on it, the house advantage can be a huge twenty-five percent. No, that is not a typo. Because of the huge set of numbers you must choose, it’s not recommended to gamble on Keno to often. A number of times for entertainment, perhaps. But don’t spend all your money on it or you will quickly discover yourself broke.
